We are inviting all military veterans to join us for a free disc golf clinic on April 30th at 2:30pm at Buck Lake Disc Golf Course. The point of this is to bring veterans together for a fun and free activity. Come join us, meet other veterans, and throw some discs!
We are hoping to have a free disc or two for each veteran. So we know a rough count of those interested, there is a sign-up form here: https://www.eventbrite.com/.../veterans-disc-golf-clinic... We are going to do some classroom instruction where we provide a basic overview of disc golf, rules, explain the different disc types and explain flight numbers. We'll then do a quick demonstration of how those different discs fly based on disc type (putter, mid, driver) and stability. We'll discuss angles of throw (flat, hyzer and anhyzer), go over the methods of throwing (stand still, one-step and x-step) and then do some hands-on putting, upshot and drive instruction and field work. Finally, we'll split the players up and play the course. We are partnering with NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Tallahassee which is a grassroots, nonprofit, education, self-help support and advocacy organization for individuals living with mental health conditions and their families. |
